The 2015 World Breastfeeding Week theme is Breastfeeding and Work: Let's Make It Work! Here in St. Louis we want to spend the time leading up to WBW recognizing those businesses that are doing a great job supporting breastfeeding customers and employees through a social media campaign called St. Louis Works For Families (#STLworks4families).
How can you get involved?
There are two simple ways for your company to be involved. If you are a business owner/manager and you welcome the public to your workspace, we urge you to sign our Breastfeeding Welcome Here pledge. By signing the pledge, you simply acknowledge that breastfeeding families are welcome at your place of business in accordance with Missouri's breastfeeding in public law.
And for all businesses, no matter the type or workplace environment, we encourage you to become a Missouri Breastfeeding Friendly Worksite. The application is very simple and the lowest level (bronze) indicates that your business is aware of the federal Break Time for Nursing Mothers law and would be ready and willing to accommodate any employee that would need it.
What will we do?
When you sign the Breastfeeding Welcome Here pledge or become a Missouri Breastfeeding Friendly Worksite, we will list your business on our website and give you a shout out on all of our social media outlets. We'll be happy to highlight other ways your business supports new families such as flexible work arrangements or longer maternity leaves. For either program, we will send you Breastfeeding Welcome Here window clings. We can also provide any technical assistance you might need to implement these programs at your company.
